THE CAMOUFLAGED CARPET SHARK

❃ The spotted wobbegong (Orectolobus maculatus) is a master of disguise found in coastal waters around Australia. Its broad, flattened body is covered in an intricate pattern of spots, blotches, and saddle-like markings that helps it disappear against rocky reefs and the seafloor. A fringe of fleshy lobes around its head further breaks up its outline, giving this unusual shark its famously shaggy appearance.

❃ Instead of constantly cruising through open water, spotted wobbegongs often spend long periods resting motionless on the bottom. Their camouflage allows them to become living ambush traps, waiting for fish, octopuses, crustaceans, and other prey to venture too close. With a sudden expansion of the mouth, the shark can generate powerful suction and pull an unsuspecting meal into its jaws.

❃ Wobbegongs belong to a group known as carpet sharks, a fitting name for animals whose elaborate patterns help them blend into the seafloor. They are primarily nocturnal and may become more active after dark, leaving their resting places to hunt. Flat, fringed, and extraordinarily well disguised, the spotted wobbegong proves that a shark doesn't need open-water speed to be an effective predator.

When It Arrives

Your plush travels inside our satchel, and some designs may be vacuum-sealed to keep them protected and compact during their journey. Don’t worry if yours looks a little flattened when first unpacked — the filling is designed to bounce back and simply needs a little time and fluffing to take its full shape.

Bringing it back to form:

1. Remove it from the packaging as soon as it arrives — don’t leave it packed.

2. Give it a good fluff — gently knead the body and work the limbs, wings, ears, or tail to redistribute the filling.

3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.

4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.

5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.

Plush make this journey every day and naturally bounce back after being unpacked. If yours still isn’t looking like itself after a week, write to us at support@gagebeasleyshop.com and we’ll make it right.

Care: Spot clean only. Do not soak.

Super soft and so cute, I've had my eye on this plushie for over a year because goblin sharks are not on anyone's radar with companies. I'm definitely coming back to this brand I love it so much for giving underappreciated animals love

How can you look cute & ugly at the same time??? By being this goblin shark plush. True to the species, nice little nobble, sharp teeth. He's fintastic & I called him Boris (political joke)

Elaine B. 5/5 Verified

Absolutely adorable! It's exactly like the picture and worth the price.

The shark was exactly as pictured and arrived within the time frame given. I think it’s a bit expensive for a stuffed animal, but my daughter is a Marine Biology major and put it on her Christmas list. I had no problems at all with the transaction, but if ordering know that it will be around 3 weeks before you receive it so order early!
