❃ With its russet-red coat, white facial markings, dark legs, and remarkably fluffy ringed tail, the red panda looks like a creature designed from pieces of several different animals. Its rounded face is framed by pale fur, while small pointed ears and a long, bushy tail give it an unmistakable silhouette. Despite its name, the red panda is not closely related to the giant panda — it belongs to its own unique family and is the only living member of its genus.

❃ Red pandas spend much of their lives in trees, using their curved claws and flexible ankles to climb through the forest canopy with remarkable agility. Their diet consists mainly of bamboo, but they also eat fruit, roots, insects, eggs, and small animals when available. A specially adapted wrist bone acts almost like an extra thumb, helping them grasp bamboo and other food as they balance among the branches. Their thick fur and broad, furry feet also help them cope with the cold mountain forests they call home.

❃ Found in the temperate forests of the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China, red pandas depend on dense vegetation and mature trees for food, shelter, and safety. They are solitary and elusive animals, most active around dawn, dusk, and during the night. Today, habitat loss and fragmentation remain major threats to their survival, making this quiet forest dweller a symbol of the delicate ecosystems hidden high among the mountains — a small, ancient branch of the mammalian family tree still clinging to the canopy.

When It Arrives

Don’t worry if yours looks a little flattened when first unpacked — the filling is designed to bounce back and simply needs a little time and fluffing to take its full shape.

Bringing it back to form:

1. Remove it from the packaging as soon as it arrives — don’t leave it packed.

2. Give it a good fluff — gently knead the body and work the limbs, wings, ears, or tail to redistribute the filling.

3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.

4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.

5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
