❃ With its oversized, vividly colored bill and glossy black plumage, the toucan is one of the most recognizable birds of the tropical Americas. Its enormous bill may look cumbersome, but its lightweight, honeycomb-like structure keeps it surprisingly manageable. Bright patches of yellow, orange, red, and blue can appear around the bill and throat, creating a striking contrast against its dark feathers and giving the toucan an almost fantastical appearance.
